Skyping Brazil
I don’t think I mentioned that Gilberto and Gabi are in Brazil right now.
They’ve already been there a few weeks, and this is how we’ve been spending a lot of time!
Getting to see my baby’s face every few days has made the separation a lot more bearable.
Did you notice how we’re using phones? That’s ghetto Skyping. It’s what you do when you don’t want to invest any money in fixing a speaker/microphone issue.
Did you also notice the crooked pictures on the wall behind Gabi? They drive me INSANE! Every time I’m in Brazil I try to fix them, but for some reason they won’t straighten out. I even tried to put clear tacks underneath the leaning corner to hold it in place, but the tacks wouldn’t go into the concrete. It’s becoming a really lame life mission to get those pictures to behave.

I bet you miss her like crazy! Isn’t technology amazing? Well, the fact that you get to see Gabi on Skype, not so much for the crooked pictures though. That could be your “thing” to invent something to fix that problem. Or, send your family those cool 3M hanging things, you know with the cool strips. What were those called again? Maybe the unknown feature in that is it straightens out crooked frames…. worth a try. Since you’re having a problem with the concrete I thought of the 3M thing we saw at BlogHer11.
Funny, I was going to say there’s got to be a 3M product for that! LOL I love that my kids have a relationship with both sets of grandparents thanks to Skype. If only they’d bring back the free 3-way convos!
Awww, how cute!! Gabi is growing up fast!!! Oh my goodness! I love skype as well. That’s the way I talk to my family in Brazil. It works and it’s free. Those pictures would drive me nuts too haha

Ghetto skyping, lol! That’s my kind of style! Here’s to making it through without them.

Cute post. 3M contact strips. Will work like a charm on those pics.
I love SKYPE… talk to my mamma almost everyday… make being on the other side of the world a little easier… I really have missed you & your blog… promise to be better about popping by! xxx
Don’t you just love Skype?
Those crooked pictures would drive me NUTS!
And if it makes you feel any better, I happen to be a “ghetto Skyper” too.

I love Skype. I use it all the time with my blogging buddies.
You should just take the pictures down next time you go to Brazil.

Skype rocks. Great for international calls. Ghetto skype rocks even harder.
I hope she’s having a great time! It must be reassuring to check in and talk to her in real time. I’m hoping when my son goes away for college we’ll use Skype to keep in touch.

Awww so sweet that you can catch up with her like that but so hard to not be with them. I totally get the picture thing. Solution idea… have you seen the 3M picture hanger things that are velcro that stick to the wall but remove with no mess? They’re AWEsome. And you can’t hang a picture crooked unless… you hang it crooked to start with

I REALLY like your blog. Cool layout, and fun content. When I lived in China I used Skype “ghetto style” a few times too!
Glad I found you on the web!
